When and how Contact will re-emerge and evolve will be determined by those who become involved.
King Salman of Saudi Arabia has visited Russia – the first official visit by a Saudi monarch – with a 1,000-strong delegation, and he has clinched some lucrative deals, including an arms deal worth $3bn (£2.3bn) and a $1bn energy investment fund. The two countries are reported to be collaborating to stabilise oil markets. Also on the agenda was Syria – both countries are involved, but on opposing sides.
