TikTok is among 59 mobile applications that have been banned by India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. Although the banning notice did not name China specifically, all of the applications listed are Chinese-made, with a statement citing threats “to sovereignty and security” of India as the reason for the action. Other applications now banned include UC browser, Shareit and Wechat.
